Ear, Nose and Throat

“Accessible Innovative Care” is the vision of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat and includes innovative scientific research about conditions of the throat, nose and ear.

Meta Mechanics

We are a Meta Mechanics group, Materials and Mechanics Research Lab
at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

We investigate fundamental relations between materials and their architecture and develop metamaterials for various applications, including medicine, sound insulation, vibration mitigation, and robotics.

Orthopedics

We strive for high quality orthopaedic care and continuous improvement in order to help patients to restore their mobility and participate in society.

Maxillofacial Dept.

Our scientific research focuses on abnormalities in the head and neck area. Much of our research has a patient-related character, a large part of the patient-related research has a clinical efficiency character.

BioMedical Engineering (BME) UMCG

Biomaterials-centered infection is a major complication in the clinical use of biomaterials implants. Within this section, the mechanisms governing the interaction of microorganisms with biomaterials surfaces, including oral hard and soft tissues are studied from a physico-chemical perspective.

UMCG Traumasurgery

An accident can have major consequences for patients. There may be permanent limitations in daily functioning. It can also affect the quality of life after the accident. To “measure” recovery after an accident, blood tests are performed, for example. Joint mobility can also be measured.

UMCG 3D Lab

Development of high-quality patient-specific implants and devices, based on 3D virtual surgery planning.
