New generation of (jaw) implants

We work to deliver the new generation of implants according to the highest quality and regulatory standards.

This project aims to improve the entire implant design workflow from the scanning of a patient to the placement of (jaw) implants. That means adapting the whole process under ISO 13485, with the use of improved design steps which will lead to fewer errors and failures and better feedback to both doctor and patient. The design process will also be further digitized and optimized. This is done by building a ‘digital twin’ of the patient in which all relevant properties and parameters are included and can be incorporated into the implant design. This way of working should allow more patient-specific solutions, safer and better for a larger group of patients in the Northern region.

Expected results:

  • Realization of the highest medical quality management standard in the 3D Lab and certification according to ISO 13485
  • Development of a new, quality-controlled design workflow with increased speed and safety during the design process.
  • Training and education of end-users in the UMCG and partner hospitals with the new type of implant design
  • Clinical Evaluation of Personalized Implants
