Patient Marc received a new jaw implant: “This was life-saving.” Last year a bone tumor was discovered in his jaw during a check-up. The solution was rigorous: a piece had to be removed from his fibula and an implant was placed in the place of his right lower jaw. Thanks to the innovative collaboration between the UMCG, Witec and BAAT, Marc can smile again.
An impressive story on RTV Noord: Marc received a custom-made new lower jaw thanks to an innovative collaboration between the UMCG, BAAT Medical, and Witec. After the discovery of a rare bone tumor, a large part of his jaw had to be replaced. Within a few days, a personalized implant was ready—designed by 3D Lab Groningen at the UMCG and produced in Stadskanaal.
“We are very pleased to be able to really help patients at the UMCG and we hope to be able to serve the whole of the Netherlands soon,” says Eric Vos.
